St Laurence’s Primary has a dedicated active play space for both Infants and Primary students. This playground area includes both fixed and movable equipment - slides, climbing structures, balancing items - with a variety of heights and access points that create more choices and challenges. These items help children develop their core and upper body strength, balance, and gross and fine motor muscle development.

As part of this active play space, we also have a large sandpit area, a cubby house and mud kitchen. Sand play is not only fun, but also quite valuable as well. Playing in the sand is terrific for developing motor skills, building hand-eye coordination, and strengthening muscles. The students are also practicing social skills like turn-taking and collaboration.

Our wooden cubby house and mud kitchen are a great way for our students to enjoy imaginative play and role play. This play based learning develops creativity, imagination and encourages the students to use problem-solving and language skills.
